Vehicle Overview
Winner — 1989 Winston Cup Championship
First NASCAR chassis built by Penske Chassis Number: PS-2
Team: Raymond Beadle
Driver: Rusty Wallace
Engine: Pontiac 350 cubic inch V8
Horsepower: 750
Weight: 3400 LBS

This is the first chassis built by Penske South for NASCAR racing. It was built for Raymond Beadle’s Kodiak team and driver Rusty Wallace.

This historic stock car has been meticulously restored both cosmetically and mechanically back to exactly as Rusty Wallace last raced it. The chassis has been set up to road racing specification and has been track tested and sorted by Bruce Canepa. It is fully race ready and needs absolutely nothing.  The quality of the restoration truly lives up to it’s Penske heritage. It is currently on display in the Canepa Motorsports museum.

Wallace won the NASCAR Winston Cup Championship in 1989 winning six races. He won the pole four times, had 13 top five finishes and 20 top ten finishes to beat Dale Earnhardt by 12 points.

Beadle switched sponsors to Miller Genuine Draft in 1990. That association lasted one year with Wallace finishing in the top ten 16 times and winning the Coca-Cola 600. He finished sixth in the Winston Cup Championship standings. Wallace moved to the Penske team for 1991 taking the Miller sponsorship with him.

Raymond Beadle
Beadle competed in NHRA drag racing driving a nitro funny car for his own Blue Max racing team. He later branched out to become a team owner in NASCAR. He is the only team owner to win championships in both the NHRA and NASCAR.

Beadle entered NASCAR as a team owner in 1983 with sponsorship from Old Milwaukee beer and driver Tim Richmond. Richmond moved to Hendrick Motorsports in 1986 and Beadle signed Rusty Wallace as his replacement. The team would win the NASCAR Winston Cup Championship in 1989.

Rusty Wallace
Wallace made a name for himself winning more than 200 short track races in the mid west in the early 1970’s. He was United States Auto Club's (USAC) Stock Car Rookie of the Year in 1979 and American Speed Association (ASA) champion in 1983. He competed in his first NASCAR event in 1980 finishing second at the Atlanta 500.

Wallace joined the NASCAR circuit full time in 1984 and won Rookie of the Year honors. Wallace joined Raymond Beadle’s team in 1986 and won the Winston Championship in 1989.  Wallace joined Penske racing in 1991 and won the IROC championship. In total he would win 55 NASCAR Winston Cup events before his retirement in 2005.
