Just 135 miles from new, and totally original!
This is truly a "time warp" car! It is just as it was when purchased new 33 years ago. To the collector who is looking for an original car it doesn't get any better than this "out of the box" example. It has never been touched, modified, or damaged.
It is hard to imagine a more perfect example of any 33-year old collector car than this De Tomaso. It has only covered 100 miles from new, having been coveted by successive collector owners, and retains fascinating details such as the original unused collapsible spare tire.
The car comes with its purchase invoice dated February 25, 1975, the Manufacture's Statement of Origin, the original manual and certificates of title issued since new. The car was featured in the Fall 2003 edition of the Pantera International magazine.
Canepa Design has just completed a full mechanical service and cosmetic detail on the car to awaken it from its years in storage. The car was fully inspected and every system serviced including changing all fluids, belts, hoses, and filters. Only period correct OEM parts were used in this process.
The engine has been fully serviced including rebuilding the carburetor and replacing the oil pan gasket. New plugs, filters, and all new hoses were installed. The exhaust system has been cleaned and Jet coated to match the original finish and new exhaust gaskets installed. The transmission was serviced and it's fluid replaced. The clutch master and slave cylinders were replaced.
The brake booster, master cylinders and brake calipers were all rebuilt and new brake hoses installed. Wheel bearings were re-packed and new wheel seals installed. All new upper and lower control arm bushings have been installed. Our four-wheel alignment has set the suspension to factory specifications.
Our detail department then spent over 200 hours cleaning and detailing every square inch of this car. The interior exterior and even the bottom of the car are in "as NEW" condition.
The car is spectacular in every aspect. Everything works just as it did when it left the factory and it drives perfect.
About the De Tomaso Pantera
Alejandro de Tomaso has purchased Ghia in the late 1960's and produced the Ford 302 V8 powered mid engine Mangusta super car. During the course of the Mangusta deal, de Tomaso has established a good relationship with the Ford Motor Company. This was very instrumental in his next automotive venture, the Pantera. The new Pantera used a unitized body and the larger 351 cid Ford "Cleveland" V8, developing up to 330 HP. With a top speed of 160 mph it made headlines and Ford took a stake, offering the car through Lincoln-Mercury dealerships.
The body was styled by Tom Tjaarda, son of Lincoln-Zephyr designer John Tjaarda, then working at Ghia. Lincoln-Mercury records show 6,000 cars sold over its four-year production run.
